Kayaking at the Lake

Went to the lake yesterday but unfortunately the ores didn't follow so I went back home and watched friends on DVD. Went again today and it was fun until the wind picked up and believe it or not there was a head wind on the way out and on the way back in. We stopped at what I dubbed spider island and had lunch, then we decided to go to Pierson cove, where we rested up a bit and then headed back to the marina. We are tired and are back home watching friends on DVD. I can't fall asleep though because the finale of Out of the wild, Alaska experience is on at 10pm tonight. Anyway, here are a couple of pics from today's adventure.

White Mountains and Pacheta Lake

My friends organized a fishing trip to the White Mountains. 4 guys with 4 days of fishing. It was awesome up there and can't wait to go again in the fall. I didn't have to plan anything and just had to show up with my gear and the guys took care of the rest. It was a great trip!
For a detailed account of this trip please visit my friends blog Steves Blog.
I had a blast and it was fun seeing Nate again and meeting his friend Aaron. Nate gave me some pointers on casting and wouldn't you know it I started casting better with less tangles in my line. Aaron gave me a few tips and I caught a big 16 incher brown as well as another smaller rainbow on the same line. (similar to the picture shown below, but Nate caught those)
Next time though I think I will pack a little better for the trip cause it was cold up there at night and I will definately bring a bigger tent!
<--- Our view from our campsite <--- We saw plenty of wild life <--- Chillin by the fire <--- This is why we went <--- Out on the lake.

The Phoenix Zoo

It was a fun trip to the Phoenix Zoo and I'm glad we did it, but in all honesty I probably wouldn't go back unless I had a child with us. Anyway here are some pics.

I took more video then photos, I will edit the video and post it soon.

Kayaking at Woods Canyon Lake

My wife and I went to the rim to go kayaking and to have some lunch looking out at the forrest. My buddy and his family were hiking in tonto creek and we met up and they tried out the kayaks.
<--- Why is it women kayak better and faster then men? (Hmmm)
After a quick trip to a viewpoint on the rim we went to KFC for dinner.
<--- View from the rim is absolutely breath taking.

Camping Trip To Flagstaff

The wife and I decided to take the dogs and head up to a KOA campsite in Flagstaff. This was the dogs first long trip and my boy loved it, my girl not so much.

<--- As you can see they were a little confused about the process of packing up the car and staying out of Daddy's way while he packed.

We finally arrived at the Campsite and we quickly found out how come we were able to get a campsite 2 days before Memorial day weekend. They had us right by the road and the spot was litterally no bigger then my driveway. But we made do and were bound and determined to have fun. We set up camp and it started to rain. The dogs were really tired and after a quick meal they both drifted off to sleep.
I forgot our tent heater and it quickly started to get colder. After eating dinner a staff member informed me that hail was on the way. Well that's all my wife and I needed to hear. We pack up all of our stuff and got out of there and headed for home, much to the enjoyment of my little girl.

Canyon Creek

Went fly fishing with my new equipment and hit canyon creek and bear flats. Didn't like canyon creek, no good spots to fish and hurt my leg jumping over creek. So my buddy Steve and I went to Bear Flats and he must have caught about 25 and I caught about 6 or 7. I started getting it towards the end. It was a blast and can't wait to go again.

Me & the wife Kayaking

My wife and I went out kyaking today. Great day and good times. :-)

<---- Yes I tipped the kayak and went for a swim. My wife heard the splash turned around and saw the bottom of my kayak. When I surfaced I heard her say Honey where are you?

That's right I bought a Kayak! And went to Saguaro Lake.

Went to Saguaro Lake and tried out the Kayak. It's the best thing EVER! I meet a couple of cool peps out on the lake. Exchanged our contact info and they will send me some info on where the best places are to kayak around Arizona. I went out quite a way on the lake. It's a beautiful lake and the cliffs through the canyons seem serreal. It was a very stress free time, just to paddle out and see the sights and meeting the people I met topped my week.
On the way back from the lake I even stopped at a vendor selling jerky on the side of the road. (I never stopped before for any vendor on the side of the road) I am truly glad I did. The man raised and prepared his own meats, the packaging was professionally vacumed sealed and even had a professional logo. We chatted for a while and he explained to me that he had been selling his own jerky for close to 15 years right there in that spot and he gave me a guarantee that if I didn't like it he would buy it back or I could trade it for another type, he was convinced that if I tried it I would become a regular customer. Well I tried it and I believe he was right because that was the best beef jerky I had ever had and I will be back to purchase more. If he has a website I will post it here. The name is J.C. Rivers Jerky.

My first fishing trip to bear flats with my buddy Steve.

After this trip I decided to buy a bit of fly fishing equipment and hit the streams. We treked for a few miles up this stream through rocky terrain and through the stream itself. My socks were soaked, the flys were landing on me and I even crossed paths with a snake and you know what, it was a GREAT day!

The Beginning

This all started due to me working out and getting in shape, so here are a few pics of me sweatin it out. Don't worry this blog will get better. :-)
It's amazing you huff and puff, grunt and groan, and sweat till it drips into your eyes and at the end of it all, I can still smile. That's P90X folks!

Out Into The Wild

Welcome to my blog. After focusing on work for so long I decided to enjoy life again, here are my adventures.

Before I begin with my adventures, here is a quick explanation as to why I have decided to leave the office and go Out Into The Wild.
I've done a lot in my life. Here are a few of the jobs I've held; welder, Marines Corps, college and was an actor/model (which means I was a good waiter) :-) I've worked for a lawyer, repo company, worked in health care, was a lender and am now and have been a Realtor for some time. I've been married for almost 14 years and for the past 5 years I've buried myself in work. My life became my career and I gained weight and looked bad and felt even worse. I decided to get in shape so I ordered the program on TV called P90X and yes it works. I was so out of shape that it took me 3 months to be able to start the workouts, and the first time I did the workout I threw up. It's been 3 months on P90X and I dropped the weight and can actually do things again which require physical activity.
I've been an all or nothing kind of guy my whole life and maybe it's growth, but I figured out that life is a balance of Faith, Family, Financials & Freedom. Since this isn't a seminar I will not cover the first 3, but this website is dedicated to the last "Freedom". Freedom means: Life enjoyment, I'm sure you've heard the saying what good is making money if you don't spend it? So, what good is life if you don't live it?
I decided to live my life and THIS WEB BLOG WILL BE A RECORD OF ME LIVING LIFE. That is its only purpose.

I can't think of a better place to start then with the program that helped to change my life. P90X. Click the picture to be taken to their website and for a description of the workout program, and since I'm not getting paid to advertise for them we will end the plug here. :-)

ENJOY MY ADVENTURES AND YOU CAN FIND ME ON TWITTER AT: www.twitter.com/outintothewild
(If I have a signal I usually tweet live from where ever I am at so you can experience it with me)
